Hello and welcome to Living Alaska, a blog chronicling life in the last frontier. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not all igloos and dog sleds up here (although we do happen to be in the middle of the Iditarod).
Life in Alaska is far different from anywhere else in the world. We live in a harsh climate, surrounded by beautiful, picturesque landscapes. Even within the state, there are huge variations in climate and scenery – from the frozen tundra of the north, to the vast mountain ranges throughout the central part of the state, to the rain forest that is southeast Alaska.
For many people, Alaska is the destination of a lifetime. To those of us who choose to live here, it is a way of life, a badge of honor.
