The Fairbanks Ice Sculptures are Melting Away

March 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It’s springtime in Alaska, and it’s 40 above! After a week of unseasonably warm weather (especially for Fairbanks), the Ice Park is melting. I never got a chance to make it up there this year, and it doesn’t sound like there is much time left.

Ice Alaska has been brining in dry ice all week in an attempt to prolong the magic and preserve the ice sculptures for as long as possible. But I have a bad feeling that Mother Nature is going to win this battle before much longer. If you still want to see the ice sculptures, you better do it this weekend, because there probably won’t be much left after that.
